Mentorship is a process during which a mentor supports and encourages a mentee in their personal, professional and spiritual development. The mentor is chosen by the mentee and the latter also takes initiative to meet with the mentor. The purpose of mentorship is to assist those serving in local churches, lay and clergy, to analyse themselves and find proper means and methods for self-development, sometimes also for preventing or overcoming a crisis.
Mentorship in the Union of Free Evangelical and Baptist Churches of Estonia consists of three stages. First, a deliberate contribution is made in supporting the development of youth and young Christians. In order to do that there is participation in youth events and youth workers are trained. The second stage consists ofwork in which mentorship of Christian workers is coordinated; this is done via organising training seminars, arranging databases of potential mentors and creating supportive materials. The third stage consists of mentorship of organisations, during which a mentor will come to help fulfill the objectives set up during self-analysis and assessment process of the organisation.
In the seminary, the students and the teams taking part in the School of Vocation have mentors. There also traits of mentorship in the tasks of the regional leaders and supervisors of practical training.
Mentorship is coordinated in the seminary by the coordinator of the mentorship network.
